--FILE--The Qiaoxiang Road in Futian and Nanshan districts, which is Shenzhen's first "smart road, " opens to public in Shenzhen city, south China's Guangdong province, 17 July 2019. Qiaoxiang Road in Futian and Nanshan districts became Shenzhen's first "smart road, " and was opened to public. The road used new-generation technology such as AI and big data to improve operation, with capabilities such as better road condition monitoring as well as being autonomous car-friendly. The road reportedly was equipped with smart traffic lights that automatically adjust signals based on real-time information about pedestrian and vehicle flow. The road was fitted with lampposts holding screens that display bus information and community maps. In addition, the lampposts will double as monitoring cameras, and will transmit free-to-use Wi-Fi in busy pedestrian areas.
