Carnival Corp. is doubling its cruise lines in China, betting that tourism will grow even as the economy slows. Carnival executives said in a media briefing Tuesday (13 October 2015) they plan to add two cruising brandsªthe company's namesake Carnival brand and its upscale Aida lineªto China by 2017, in addition to the Princess and Costa services currently used in the country. By next year, the company will operate six cruise ships in China, up from four today, executives said. Carnival believes that the future of the industry will be in China, despite its decelerating economy, said Arnold Donald, Carnival Corporation's chief executive. Carnival wants to position itself ''to take full advantage of what one day will be the world's largest cruise market, " Mr. Donald said.
