In The Eeview of July 12 a notice was printed of the death of Philippe de Vilmorin, head of Vilmorin-Andrieux & Co., Paris, probably the most widely known seed house in the world. From Eugene Schaettel, who is known person- ally to many American seedsmen, comes the following paragraph with regard to the future management of the busi- ness: "The firm will continue unchanged under the management of Jacques de Vilmorin, son of Maurice de Vilmorin, the late Henry de Vilmorin's broth- er, who has been associated with the firm for a number of years; of Count de Estienne, Philippe's brother-in-law, who has been a partner in the business for eighteen years; of A. Henry and E. Schaettel. Louis de Vilmorin, who spent some time in the United States before the war and , on, account of his genial character grew 80 popular there, will soon enter the firm as an associate and Vilmorin's friends may rest assured that the firm's motto will ever remain as for nearly 200 years: Most scrupu- lous honesty and straight and square dealings.''
