Haifa is a northern Israeli port city built from the Mediterranean up the slopes of Mount Carmel. This modern city is Israel's third largest, after Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Unusually for Israel, there are relatively few sites of great history or archaeological significance to see here, just a rather lovely modern, cosmopolitan city. Here we see a panoramic view of the container port and docks of the city, viewed from its most iconic landmark, the gold-domed Shrine of the B‡bare, set in immaculately landscaped terraces of the Bah‡'’ Gardens. This elevated view is from roughly half way up the 546m Mount Carmel.
