Harvest Operations - Reaping, 1858. One of our Artists, fresh from the cornfields, has forwarded to us the accompanying Illustrations of gathering in the harvest. Nothing can present a more beautiful sight than the golden fields at this period of the year; and those who have left the great metropolis on visits to their country cousins must indeed be gratified with the sights around them. [Our sketch shows] the reapers, busily engaged in cutting the wheat, tying it into sheaves, and stacking the sheaves into shocks [stooks]'. From "Illustrated London News", 1858.
