The sleeves do not quite reach the elbow, allowing the shirt sleeves to show a little and the forearm to be free. The light blue stockings, embroidered on the instep with coloured, usually red, but sometimes white wool, are visible below the skirt. Very wide-cut, sturdy leather shoes, which just cover the toes at the front but have a low heel at the back, allow this embroidery to stand out fully.
