During the Hindu Ganesha Chaturthi Festival in Puttaparthi the whole community make large statues of Ganesha which are placed in the streets. Rituals are performed to these idols. After three days the statues are put onto transport and the celebrations take place for most of the day. In the evening they are taken and released into the river.
