Interior view of Lawson's first convenience store inspired by Bilibili, a leading Chinese video-sharing streaming website themed around anime, comic and game fandom in Ynagpu district in Shanghai, China, 10 January 2018. Featuring anime is not something new about the Lawson convenience store chain. What's something new though is the anime they will put up for their stores in Shanghai. Lawson opened its first Bilibili-themed store in Shanghai inspired by the Chinese video-sharing site themed around anime, comic, and game fandom on Monday (8 January 2019). Bilibili, a leading Chinese video streaming website famous for its danmu ("bullet screens" in Chinese) service that lets viewers post or send each other text messages while watching a film or show, became one of the most popular text messaging platforms in China in 2017, with over 1 billion commentary subtitles.
