JUNE 3, 2018 - A recently planted rice field seen during Yuki Saiden O-taue Matsuri, a rice planting ceremony and festival in Okazaki, Japan. The festival takes place at a special rice field for Shinto dieties called a saiden. Similar events are held during the rice planting season throughout Japan. While most rice planting in Japan is now done by machine, festival participants plant rice by hand. They also wear traditional clothing, and perform traditional song and dance.
