The festival commemorates the age old traditions of Indigenous tribal life and culture, unchanged throughout the centuries. There are several unusual and interesting events that take place during the festival such as the Panumanod (spiriting ceremony), Pangampo (general workship) and Pamalas (sin atonement). Other events include Laga Ta Bukidnon (a beauty pageant), an Ethnic Dance Clinic The Festival culminates in a spectacular street dancing competition, Ikat-ikat Ta Dadalanun, meaning to dance on the streets. Each tribe having their own choreographed dance routines and respective tribal costumes. The word Kaamulan comes from the Binukid word ‘amul’ which means to gather whether for a wedding, thanksgiving festival or other significant event.
