Kingfisher's flight UK ENCHANTING images of a common British kingfisher were captured near River Teme in Shropshire. This adult female kingfisher was looking for dinner to take back to its nest near the water. Often rather shy and inconspicuous despite their bright plumage, kingfishers are found along rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds?almost any fresh or brackish habitat with small fish. They often perch quietly in trees over water and can be seen in very fast low flight as a turquoise flash over the water, usually flying away. Welsh photographer Ian Humphreys (64) captured this elusive bird with his Canon 90d camera and 150-600 Sigma Sport lens from a distance of 20 feet. ?I sat in a hide for four hours before I was rewarded by its sight and snapped its pictures, ? he said. ?I have been photographing kingfishers for over 40 years now, and still, their beauty and striking colour surprise me every single time. ?Every time I take their picture, I feel like I have captured something different and beautiful.?
