Leningrad, Russia. August 1961 – The Russian navy Pallada-class cruiser, Aurora, preserved as a museum ship in Leningrad (Saint Petersburg). This ship was built in Petrograd for service in the Pacific. It was commissioned in 1903 and originally served during the 1904-05 Russo-Japanese War, taking part in the Battle of Tsusima. On the night of October 25-26 1917, the Aurora reportedly fired the first shot of the October Revolution in Russia, signalling the beginning of the attack on the Winter Palace.
