Letter from Franklin D. Roosevelt to Robert E. Hannegan; Scope and content: This letter to Robert Hannegan, Chairman of the Democratic National Convention, is in response to Hannegan's recommendation of Harry S. Truman and William Douglas as possible running mates for Roosevelt in the 1944 election. Roosevelt states he will run with either and that either one of them would bring real strength to the ticket. Hannegan used this letter to secure the vice presidiential nomination for Truman.
