Carlsbad Fish Wildlife Service biologist, Erin McCarthy, holds an endangered light-footed clapper rail while it receives a leg band before being released into the wild July 19, 2011, at the San Diego River Channel, San Diego, CA. This bird was captive bred in a clapper rail recovery program.
