The 108 Druk Wangyal memorial stupas were built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother, in honor of the Bhutanese soldiers killed in the December 2003 battle against Assamese insurgents from India. Dochula Pass is located at an elevation of 3, 100 meters (10, 200 feet). Among the mountains visible in the distance is Mount Masanggang, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7, 158 meters (23, 484 feet).
