Mar. 22, 2012 - This map of Windsor Castle printed on tiles is to be found on the right hand wall of the narrow alley way which leads from Thames Street into Windsor Gardens. It is based on the engraving by Wenceslaus Hollar, A.D. 1663.The Royal Borough of Windsor in Coronation year.: Always a ''must'' on the list of places for the tourist to visit, Windsor this year is expecting even more visitors than usual. although built as a stronghold by William the Con~uerir in 1090, Windsor Castle has for many years been the traditional home of the Sovereign and each succeeding sovereign has added something to the glories of the ancient Castle. Queen Victoria who statue stands at the bottom of Castle Hill, spent most of the years of her widowhood there. Many of the shops in Windsor have the ''By Appointment'' sign hanging over their doors and the sovereign very often shops personally in the town.
