Members of the Shembe faith (Nazareth Baptist Church), a religious hybrid of Christianity and African traditions, walk toward the Nhlangakazi Mountain during their annual pilgrimage near Inanda, north of Durban, South Africa January 7, 2007. Shembe is the fourth successor to Isaiah Shembe, a Zulu healer, who formed the church a century ago to infuse African tribalism into Christianity brought over by Western missionaries. The pilgrims spend two weeks on the mountain praying and dancing. © Rogan Ward 2009
