Natural disaster in the 1940s. In the early summer 20-23 may 1944, the water in the river Torne älv flooded over due to a mass of ice that dammed the water 3,5 meters higher than normal. The consequences were severe. On the surrounding grounds meters of ice was left behind when the water drained away and destroyed farm buildings and covering the fields. A horse and carriage is seen on the main road that was just cleared of the ice-cover near the village Korpikylä near Skogskärr Kristoffersson ref H124-1
