Comings, son of Uriel and Sarah (Robinson) Comings, wasborn in Cornish, N. H., October 14, 1825, and died in West Swanzey, N. H., August 1, 1863. He attended the schools of histown and the Kjmball Union Acad-emy, Meriden, N. H. He enteredthe University in 1844, and remainednearly three years. He studied medi-cine during 1847-48, with Dr. SamuelJarvis of Claremont, N. H., andgraduated M. D. from the CastletonMedical College in 1850. He practiced his profession inPlainfield, N. H., 1850-51; WestSwanzey, N. H., 1851-62. He wascommissioned assistant surgeon, 4thNew Hampshire Infantry, August 13, 1862. He had entire charge of theregiment for some time; served forsome time at Hilton Head, whereafter some months of faithful antldevoted service to the sick andwounded, his health failed.
