O'Brien's Tower situated on the edge of the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland, from where views extend to Loop Head at the southern tip of Clare, the mountains of Kerry, north to the Twelve Bens (aka the Twelve Pins), and west to the Aran Islands. Local landlord and MP, Sir Cornellius O'Brien was aware of the occasional Victorian tourists who stopped off at the cliffs and decided to encourage more visitors by constructing an observation tower and teahouse on the vertiginous cliff edge, high above the Atlantic Ocean. Recently, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was filmed on location at the cliffs. This image of the tower appears in "Irish Follies and Whimsical Architecture" by George Munday and published by O'Brien Press in Dublin.
