On the 200th day of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, a memorial ceremony in honor of the killed Ukrainian children took place on September 11, 2022, in front of the Office of the Federal Chancellor, located at Willy-Brandt-Strasse 1 in Berlin, Germany's capital. According to the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, or UNICEF, nearly 1, 000 children were killed or injured. UNICEF describes the situation of children from Ukraine as appalling. The lives of at least 7.5 million children are in danger and several million children are on the run. Most verified child casualties were due to explosive weapons in populated areas. The children and families urgently needed protection and humanitarian aid, which was the primary message of the protest in Berlin, where protesters held various speeches about the current situation. They also held up signs. Before the official memorial ceremony began, the organizers also remembered the victims of the 9/11 attacks with a minute of silence. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, sent the world into a state of shock that continues to this day. (Photo by Michael Kuenne/PRESSCOV/Sipa USA)
