Parque Duarte, located in the very heart of the Colonial City right in front of the church of the Dominicans, in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic. In the 19th century, this was the place chosen by the Trinitarians to meet and set in motion a plot against the Haitian occupation that took place during the period between 1822 and 1844. In 1930, the statue of the father of the country, Juan Pablo Duarte, was erected and remains in the center of the square that bears his name.
