Plastic objects. Collection of familiar objects made using polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The tablecloth, records, electrical insulating wiring, the hard hat, piping and packaging are all made from variants of this plastic. Plastics consist of tangled chains (polymers) of a base chemical unit. For PVC this is vinyl chloride (CH2-CHCl). The chloride atom makes the polymer more soluble in the organic solvents used in manufacturing.
