Police officers maintain order among mourners lined up outside the 26th Street pier morgue, waiting to identify victims of the Triangle fire. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was one of the worst industrial accidents in US History. A fire broke out on the 10th floor of the Asch Building. The fire exits were locked, the fire escape inadequate and the fire engine ladders were not long enough. 146 people were killed, of which 62 jumped to their deaths to avoid the flames.
