Police officers search for clues at the crime scene. Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Belleville Chief of Police Mark Minichini announced that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Francis Medina, 37, of Belleville and a 4-year-old boy who was injured in the shooting in Belleville, New Jersey. Saturday afternoon, at about 2 p.m., Belleville police responded to a report of a shooting on the 100 block of Mill Street in Belleville, New Jersey. Police located Medina at that location suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medina was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m., the boy was taken to an area hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition and the investigation is active and ongoing.
