Quebec City, Canada, August 15, 2008: Porte Saint Louis (Saint Louis Gate) is one of the city gates of Quebec City but it's not the one of the original fortifications. The first construction of the gate dates back to at least 1694 then was demolished in 1791 because of its bad condition and rebuilt. In 1823 it was replaced. It was completely removed in 1871 before the contruction of the present one in 1880 by Lord Dufferin. Fortifications of Quebec City are a National Historic Site of Canada and a World Heritage Site.
