Recruits from Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, receive a contraband brief during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 12. At this time, the recruits are informed of all of the items they aren’t allowed to have in order to begin training. In the following week of receiving, they will conduct an initial strength test, undergo medical screenings and immunizations and learn the basic rules of recruit training. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate May 11.
