The One Hundred an Eleventh Infantry Illinois Volunteers was organized at Salem, Il-linois, in September, 1862, by Colonel James S. Martin, and was mustered in, September18th. Aggregate strength, 886. October 31st, 1862, the Kegiment moved, by rail, to Cairo ; thence to Columbas, Ken-tucky, where it remained for the winter. On March 12th, 1863, moved to Fort Hieman, , .Tennessee, and Colonel Martin was placed in command of post of Paducah, Kentucky. iOn 29th May, the Regiment moved to Paducah, Kentucky. On 31st October, embarkedfor Eastport, Mississippi. Landed November 4th, and, on 5th, moved to Gravel Springs, losing, in a skirmish, 4 men
