RM2HH5WKT–The Roman Forum in Rome, Italy c.1960. This view is taken from next to the Curia Julia (Senate House) looking SE. The Temple of Divus Julius (Tempio del Divo Giulio) is left. Today the Forum has signage, maps fencing and smooth walkways – as here it was more challenging to walk and less managed and manicured. The statue in the foreground, a porphyry statue, a togatus (man in a toga), is now located inside the Curia Julia building. The Forum was the centre of day-to-day life in ancient Rome. This image is from an old amateur 35mm colour transparency – a vintage 1950/60s photograph.
