The township of Ross is a early 1820`settlement.It is known for its circa 1836 Ross sandstone bridge, built by convicts.There was also a convict prison for females, where over 12, 000 prisoners passed through around 1848 to 1854.It was called the female factory.Ross is a heritage listed town.
