More than 100, 000 people believed to be the largest crowd ever to attend a motor racing event in Britain, saw the Italian ace, Dr. Guiseppe Farina sweep across the line to win the 210 miles event at an average of 90.95 miles an hour. Second man home was Luigi Fagioli, averaging 90.92 in his first big race since before the war. Third was the British driver, Reg Parnell, Derby garage proprietor, making his first appearance for the official Alfa Romeo team. He clocked an average of 90.37.
