The car was designed by race car designer Alf Francis in between 1959 and 1960 in Dorking for Walker to enter as a manufacturer rather than private entry tested in 1960 and powered by a Coventry Climax 2.5 litre engine.but the project was set aside with the rule changes to 1.5 litre cars. A welcome and interesting addition to the HGPCA races. Alf Francis (born Alfons Kowaleski[1] or Alphons Kowalewski[2] 18 June 1918 – 28 June 1983) was a motor racing mechanic and racing car constructor. Francis was born in Danzig but left during World War II, first for Portugal, then by sea to Liverpool in the UK, where he joined the Polish 1st Armoured Division. After World War II, he changed his nationality to British, and his name to Alf Francis. He became a racing mechanic for Stirling Moss and the Chief Mechanic at Rob Walker Racing Team.
