Chapel St. Rose of Lima, (Spanish Santa Rosa de Lima), Peru. St. Rose of Lima (born April 20/30, 1586, Lima, Viceroyalty of Peru [now in Peru]—died August 24, 1617, Lima) was the first person born in the Western Hemisphere to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church. Her original name was Isabel Flores de Oliva; she was canonized April 12, 1671; her feast day is August 23 (formerly August 30); and she's the patron saint of Peru and of all South America.
