School teacher Mrs Sheila Collier called the register and found she had an extra pupil. Sat at the school desk beside four-year-old Sally Ann Smith was a giant golden retriever and Brandy the dog just wouldn't budge from the classroom at Knolls Lane Primary School, Oldham. It is not every dog who has a day at school - but Mrs Collier decided to let him stay. Sally Ann has had the dog since she could toddle. Brandy followed her everywhere. And when she started school a few days ago he could not understand why Sally left him everyday, when they always used to play. 15th September 1963.
