Seborrhoeic wart on a 25 year old woman's skin. This is a benign (non-cancerous) skin tumour also known as basal cell papilloma or seborrhoeic keratosis. It is caused by an overproduction of the skin protein keratin. These warts become more common with age. They are harmless, but may be removed for cosmetic reasons by freezing (cryotherapy).
