Winter hikers and winter sports enthusiasts at Grafenmatt on the snow island in the winter sports resort of Feldberg. Snow Island Feldberg. While it is currently not possible in the lower and middle locations in the Black Forest, the bear stalks on the 1, 493 metre high Feldberg (district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald) over the Christmas holidays to Dreikönig the bear. Thousands of winter sports enthusiasts roamed on a 30 centimetre high snow pack with skis, snowboards and toboggans. Others took the opportunity for a winter walk in the wintry High Black Forest. On the highest elevation in the state of Baden-Württemberg, 14 out of 38 lifts are in operation on the snow-cover facilities. At least in the high altitudes it should remain wintry
