Steam engine design. 19th-century artwork of an 8-horsepower steam engine produced by the Fenton, Murray, and Wood company. This company was founded in the 1790s in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK, by ironfounder Matthew Murray and textile machine engineer David Wood, with capital from colliery owner James Fenton. The company went on to become a major supplier of steam engines in the 1830s and 1840s.
