Fireworks light up the night sky over Stirling Castle during the 2018/19 hogmanay celebrations. Fireworks were also set off just beside the Wallace Monument which is celebrating its 150th anniversary (The Wallace Monument lies about a mile just behind Stirling Castle on a separate rocky outcrop over looking the glen). Stirling Castle is one of Scotlands largest and important castles sitting atop basalt rock which was used as a stronghold position for centuries and has hosted many Scottish Kings and Queens.
