Mingo Falls are approximately 120 feet high and one of the higher waterfalls in the southern Appalachians. The falls are also unofficially known as Big Bear Falls, which is the translated meaning of Mingo Falls. The falls are easily reached off Big Cove Road outside Cherokee. The hike is only .40 miles, but relatively steep along a staircase up the side of the mountain.
