Illustration by Edouard Zier (1856-1924) from a special edition history of England published in 1903. After riots between the people of Dover and Eustace II, Count of Boulogne who was Edward the confessor's brother-in-law, Godwin. Earl of Wessex was ordered to punish the people of Dover. He refused and was sent into exile by Edward in September 1051. He would return a year later with an army & reclaim hist lands and titles. His Son Harold would eventually become King until he was defeated by William the Conqueror in 1066.
