The casement is one of seven built to house a 380mm artillery gun. Some notes taken from sign at site: This massive gun was made by Krupp in 194, one of only two known to have survived World War Two. Range 62km and 82km with special shells. 8-15 shells an hour weight 218 tons barrel 94 tons
