A Plains Indian war bonnet, USA, early 20th century. A crown of large eagle feathers, the lower section decorated with red dyed down feathers attached to a felt cap. The forehead section embroidered with coloured beads. Height ca. 45 cm. A war bonnet was only worn on special occasions, the rich decorations told of its owner's victorious battles. The eagle feathers alone were very precious and had even more value as a good horse. historic, historical American, America, ethnology, ethnicity, ethnic, object, objects, clipping, cut out, cut-out, cut-outs, commodity,
