More information:

Bromholm Priory was founded in 1113 by William de Glanville. Until 1298 it was a cell of Castle Acre Priory, but then became independent as its fortunes changed upon the receipt of pieces of wood claimed to be of the True Cross. It is said that miracles were performed here. Henry the First was a visitor and in later years the valuable materials were stripped as a result of the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry the Eighth.
