This photo shows the Al Zubarah Fort located in the Madinat ash Shamal region in the north-west of Qatar. The fort was built in 1938 primarily as a police and military base from which to fight raiders from Bahrain and other nearby locations. The Madinat ash Shamal community has about 3, 000 residents and is the proposed location for a 45, 000+ stadium that Qatar is planning to build in connection with the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
