Studio and boutique for the renowned jeweller Alex Monroe who found a small site in the shadow of The Shard. Located within the Bermondsey Street Conservation Area, the design presents a highly crafted metal casket as a three- storey addition on top of a restored shopfront. Constructed in prefabricated cross-laminated timber and clad in a hand-finished, zinc rain screen, the building provides functional, well-lit and inspiring accommodation ranging from a basement studio for heavy machinery, an administrative floor, studio space where jewellery is made and a top floor dining- meeting room and kitchen with direct access to a spectacular roof terrace with views across the city.
