Japanese mother taking pictures of daughters in pink dresses underneath cherry trees in peak bloom in the Amsterdam Forest (Dutch: Amsterdamse Bos) in early spring. The Blossom Park (Dutch: Bloesempark) is a recent addition to the Amsterdamse Bos. In 2000 this Cherry Blossom Park was created on the grounds of the former Amsterdam City Nursery. The Japan Women's Club donated 400 Japanese Cherry Trees all with a name: 200 Dutch and 200 Japanese female names. There's a Cherry Blossom Festival in April where Japanese expats from the Amsterdam and Amstelveen area celebrate the coming of spring when the 400 trees in the Bloesempark are in bloom.
