The Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire, is the first national memorial dedicated to the men and women of the United Kingdom Armed Forces (Regular and Reserve) killed on duty or as a result of terrorist action since the Second World War. The memorial was dedicated in the presence of HM The Queen on 12 October 2007. The memorial, designed by architect Liam O'Connor, honours those killed in combat and training as well as in acts of terrorism. At the heart of the memorial, situated at the centre of each of the two straight stone walls will be bronze sculptures by Ian Rank-Broadley.
