Artist Thomas Heatherwick unveils his new seven-storey sculpture, commissioned by the Wellcome Trust, at their new headquarters in Euston Road, central London. Constructed with 150,000 glass spheres, and suspended on almost one million metres of fine stainless steel wire, the work illuminates the surrounding space with constantly shifting colour and light in a spectacular 30 metre-high void. The form of the sculpture has been derived from the twisted shape of a drop of molten metal, cooled and solidified as it fell through tumbling water.
