Babur (1480-1530) was the founder of the Mughal (also spelled Mogul) Empire in India. His autobiography is titled Baburnama. He was a descendant of Genghis Khan and Timur. His grandson was Akbar the Great. Babur's homeland was present-day Afghanistan. Pictured here is Babur's grave. He had requested that he be buried in Bagh-e Babur, one of his favorite gardens in Kabul.
