Badgers live in family groups and have a social structure. If there are disputes this can escalate into fights where they have been witnessed chasing each other in circles trying to bite the hind quarters of the other animal. Biting here is not lethal and most wounds heal over time. It's often the animals with least social standing that are attacked in this way and may be forced to live in an outlying sett rather than the main sett.
